Elizabeth Eakes is a Maryland-based writer, children's nonfiction author, and communications professional. Her work connects readers with nature, scientific ideas, conservation efforts, and community stories.

Her debut children's nonfiction book, Weird, Wild, and Rare: Extraordinary Animals of the United States, was published by duopress / Sourcebooks in 2026. Review coverage has highlighted the book's browsable structure and memorable animal facts for young readers.

Elizabeth works in outreach and digital communications at Gunpowder Valley Conservancy. She holds an M.S. in Professional Writing from Towson University and a B.A. in Global Studies with an Environmental Science minor from UMBC.
